I often ask myself how I managed the transition from working in a prison setting to working in a hospital. For so many years, I was used to the jail environment where we didn’t deal with IVs, PICC lines, EPIC charting, or feeding pumps. When I started my new job in the hospital, I felt lost at first. But through Confident Nurses, my skills and confidence quickly grew. I received hands-on training with IV pumps—how to set them up, calculate drips, and run them correctly. I learned to start IVs, change a PICC line, and set up and manage a kangaroo feeding pump. Everything was practical, face-to-face, and tailored to what I needed. I even got exposure to EKG strips and rhythms, which gave me a stronger foundation

Outstanding Clinical Instructor and A True Mentor in Med-Surg

I had the privilege of learning under Professor E, during my medical-surgical clinical rotation at Berkshire Medical Center, I can confidently say that their guidance has left a lasting impact on my nursing education. From day one, Professor E, created a supportive and structured learning environment that encouraged critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and compassionate patient care.

Her ability to bridge textbook knowledge with real-world application was exceptional. She consistently challenged us to think beyond the basics, ask meaningful questions, and reflect on our practice. Whether it was demonstrating complex procedures, walking us through patient scenarios, or offering constructive feedback, Professor E, always made time to ensure we understood not just the “how,” but the “why.”

I am incredibly grateful for the guidance and support I received from my Fundamentals of Nursing clinical instructor.
